Dr. Donald Aitken  
Donald Aitken Associates

Dr. Donald Aitken was formerly a staff research physicist and astrophysicist at Stanford University, and founder and Chairman of the Department of Environmental Studies at San Jose State University. Dr. Aitken has also served as the Executive Director of the Western Regional Solar Energy Center for the U.S. Department of Energy, and Senior Staff Scientist for Renewable Energy Policy and Economics with the Union of Concerned Scientists. Dr. Aitken has been President of the American Solar Energy Society two times, and also Vice President of the International Solar Energy Society.

Dr. Aitken and his wife have lived in Ajijic, Mexico, for one year, where they designed and built their passive solar office and converted their house to be the first all-solar-electric and solar-thermal house in the Chapala area. Dr. Aitken was a plenary speaker at the ANES National Solar Conference in Zacatecas last year. He is also the author of “The Renewable Energy Transition”, a report commissioned by the European Union in 2003, which was translated into Spanish and introduced into Mexico last year in Mexico City by Dr. Aitken and members of the government of Mexico.
