Rafael Alcalde-Navarro

Mr. Alcalde has been employed by GE Energy since 1993 and serves as Commercial Operations Leader for Latin America and the Western US. He has performed development activities for wind projects in Emerging Markets and has worked with utilities and policy makers in several countries of Latin America in the development of mechanisms (including renewable laws) that allow renewable projects to be developed and financed. He has led and closed negotiations of large wind turbine transactions and has participated as a speaker in several international conferences and training seminars regarding commercial, technical and legal issues impacting wind power, as well as economic and social benefits of renewable projects. From 1989-1992 he was employed by the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE), the government-owned power utility in Mexico heading the Planning Department for the State of Zacatecas responsible for the infrastructure plans for the State’s electrical system. Mr. Alcalde graduated in 1988 with a degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, Mexico. He also earned an Energy Management, a Distributed Generation and a Cogeneration Professional Certificates from the US Association of Energy Engineers of Atlanta Georgia. Mr. Alcalde holds an EIT certification from the Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors in California and is a Member of the International Who is Who of Professional Management edition 1998.
